She is is a professional surfer who represents the island of Barbados.
Barbados is one of the island where some of family is from on my dad's side.
The island had a lot of influence on the Carolinas where I was born and grew up.
Chelsea helped teach me to surf when I was a teenager.

My connection with the ocean goes deep.
Growing up on the coast of South Carolina meant I was always surrounded by water.
I spent time playing on the sea islands, rivers, and on the beach.
My dad was a diver for the SC Aquarium.
I spent many hours there marveling at the underwater world.
Part of my family is from the island of Barbados.
My grandparents live in California. I always find my way to waves when I visit.
Some of my uncles live on the Yucatan Peninsula.
The Nereids have always called to me.
