Theron reached out, wanting to thank her, but before his fingers could touch hers, she dissolved into the sea, leaving only a ripple in her wake.
As he floated toward the shore, Theron felt a renewed sense of purpose. The storm had tested him, and the Nereid had saved him, but now the rest was up to him.
When he reached the island’s sands, he turned back to the vast sea. For a moment, he thought he saw her again, her form shimmering beneath the waves, watching him.
Theron bowed his head. “Thank you, Galene,” he whispered. “I will not waste this gift.”
And with that, he began his new journey, the song of the Nereid echoing in his heart—a reminder of the mercy that even the wildest seas can grant.
