On this particular night, the tides were unusually strong, a response to the moon's closest approach to Earth. Thetis felt the ocean's rhythm in her very soul, a melody she had danced to for eons. But as she gazed upward, her heart ached with a longing that the ocean could not soothe.
It was then that he appeared.
Descending from the sky in a burst of shimmering light was Astraeus, the keeper of the celestial currents. He was born of the stars and wandered the void of space, guiding comets and tracing the paths of galaxies. For eons, he had watched the Nereids from afar, his gaze often lingering on Thetis, the nymph whose soul mirrored the restless infinity of his own.
"Thetis," he spoke, his voice like a distant echo across the waves. "You are the ocean, and I am the stars. Together, we are bound by forces greater than ourselves—by the cycles of time and the gravity that shapes all things."
